WELCOME to C63® C63® is a major
United States EMC standards developers focused on many aspects of emission
and immunity measurements, instrumentation and resource for test lab
competency and quality control. Its standards are highly diversified as can
be seen in this web page: http://www.c63.org/documents/misc/matrix/c63_standards.htm.
The uniqueness of the committee is its close link on EMC standards with the
needs of manufacturers and testing organizations, but most importantly the
acceptance of its standards by US regulatory organizations such as the
Federal Communications Commission which references several C63® standards
in its Rules. The composition of its Main
Committee is shown in http://www.c63.org/documents/rosters_public/c63_members.htm
where the broad diversity of active members represents a broad spectrum of
those that need EMC standards considerations that the committee serves. The formal scope which has been
in existence for many decades is as follows: Development of definitions and methods of measurement of
electromagnetic noise and signal strengths (radiated and conducted),
determination of levels of signal strength, levels of unwanted sources,
limiting ratio of noise (and/or unwanted sources) to signals and development
of methods of control of, and guidelines for influence, coupling and
immunity. Where subjects dealt with overlap with those of other national
committees, appropriate liaison will be established. To accomplish the above activities, C63® develops
electromagnetic compatibility standards documents which via its secretariat publishes, archives and sells these standards to the
general public. As can be seen, the committee’s breadth of coverage is extensive.
This leaves many opportunities to join in its work which is encouraged. For
further information, contact the C63® Secretary, Jerry
Ramie or the Chairman, Dan
Hoolihan. |
